Established in 1865, Stones River National Cemetery is a unit of the Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

More than 6,100 Union soldiers who perished during the American Civil War lie in this 12-acre cemetery. The national cemetery is also the final resting place for nearly 1,000 veterans who served after the Civil War through the 1970s. The cemetery is one of 14 national cemeteries managed by the National Park Service.

On October 20, 2018, HOPE Crew volunteers cleaned over 4,000 headstones to connect volunteers with the preservation movement and the National Park Service through hands-on work.
